Microbook
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Microbook ("the app") is a microlearning app published by SnailPixel ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: Microbook has no accounts, and your progress, streaks and quiz results stay on your device. The app downloads new lessons from our content server, and those requests carry no personal information. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device data as described below. Purchases are handled by Google Play. You can change your ad consent at any time in the app.
Information we do not collect
We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location or health information, and we never receive your learning progress or quiz answers. There are no user accounts. The app has no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
Information stored on your device
- Your progress. Finished lessons, quiz scores, XP and level, your streak and activity calendar, followed courses, your free course and the topics you picked are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are never sent to us.
- Downloaded lessons. Courses downloaded from our content server are cached on your device so they work offline.
- Settings. Theme, haptics, reminder time, whether a subscription is active, and counters that limit how often ads appear. Also stored on the device.
- Backup. Android may include the app's private data in your own Google account backup if you have Android backup switched on, so your progress can be restored on a new phone. That backup is controlled by you and by Google, not by us.
- Deleting it. Use Profile > Reset progress in the app, or uninstall the app.
Lesson content from our server
To add new courses without an app update, Microbook asks our content server (microbook.snailpixel.com) which courses are available and downloads the ones you do not have yet. These requests contain no account, no advertising ID and no information about your progress. Like any web server, it briefly receives your IP address to answer the request; we use it only to deliver the content and keep the service secure, and we do not combine it with anything else. If you are offline, the app keeps working with the lessons already on your device.
Advertising (free version)
The free version shows a small banner on the main screens, an occasional full-screen ad after you finish a lesson (never during one, and never in your first minutes with the app), and an optional rewarded ad that you can choose to watch to open a locked lesson for the day. Ads are served by the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), a service of Google.
To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information (such as model, operating system and app version), information about ad interactions (such as impressions and taps), and SDK diagnostics. Depending on your choices, ads may be personalised or non-personalised. See Google's privacy policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Microbook Plus subscribers are not shown ads.
Your consent choices
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent using Google's consent tool before any ad is requested. You can review or change your choice at any time in the app under Profile > Ad privacy choices. If you do not consent, you may still see limited, non-personalised ads. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
We rely on your consent for personalised advertising and for storing or accessing information on your device for that purpose; on our legitimate interests to deliver lesson content, show non-personalised ads, limit how often ads appear and prevent fraud, which keeps the free version available; and on the performance of a contract to provide a subscription you buy.
Purchases
Microbook Plus is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment under the Google Play Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. We never receive your payment details; the app only checks with Google Play on your device whether your subscription is active. You can cancel at any time in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions.
Notifications
The daily reminder is optional. If you turn it on, it is scheduled locally on your device; no push server is involved. You can turn it off in the app (Profile > Daily reminder) or in your Android settings.
Permissions
- Internet. To download new lessons, load ads and check purchases. Lessons already on your device work offline.
- Notifications. Only if you turn the reminder on.
- Run at startup. To restore your scheduled reminder after the device restarts.
Educational content, not advice
Microbook lessons are original summaries written for general education. Lessons about money, health or other topics are not financial, medical, legal or other professional advice. Book courses summarise ideas in our own words and are not a substitute for the original works.
Children
Microbook is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help.
Data retention
Information on your device stays until you reset your progress or uninstall the app. Our content server does not keep request logs longer than needed to run and secure the service. Advertising data is kept by Google according to its own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because Microbook keeps your information on your device, you can use most of these rights directly in the app (Reset progress, Ad privacy choices) or in your Android settings. For anything else, contact us below. If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Lithuania, the State Data Protection Inspectorate, vdai.lrv.lt).
Notice for US residents
Through the AdMob SDK, the following categories of personal information may be collected for advertising: identifiers (the advertising ID), internet or other electronic network activity (ad interactions) and approximate geolocation. Using this for targeted advertising may count as "sharing" under some state laws, including California's. You can opt out by turning off ads personalisation or deleting your advertising ID in Android settings. We do not sell personal information for money, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
International transfers
Google may process advertising data in countries other than yours, including the United States, using safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Security
Your progress is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps on the device cannot read. Lesson downloads, ad and purchase traffic are encrypted in transit.
