HeartPeek

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

HeartPeek measures your heart rate with your phone's camera and fingertip and keeps a simple history of your readings, plus a log of the blood pressure numbers you type in from your own monitor. It is made by SnailPixel ("we", "us"). HeartPeek is for general wellness only and is not a medical device. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: your readings stay on your phone.

The short version

1. The camera and flash

HeartPeek asks for camera permission the first time you tap Measure. You can say no: the app then cannot measure, and you can allow it later in Android Settings.

When you allow it, the back camera and its flash are on only while a measurement is on screen. They switch off when the measurement ends, when you cancel, or when you leave the app, and Android shows its usual camera indicator while the camera is on.

Each camera frame is reduced, in memory on your phone, to the average colour of your fingertip and then thrown away. From those colours the app works out your pulse. It does not store, upload or share any image or video, and nothing from the camera is ever sent with ads or to anyone else.

2. Information stored on your phone

These stay in the app's private storage on your phone and are never sent to us or anyone else:

  • your saved readings: date and time, heart rate, signal quality, the HRV estimate, a few seconds of the pulse wave drawn on screen, and any tag or note you add;
  • your blood pressure entries: the date and time, the systolic, diastolic and pulse numbers you type in, the arm and position, and any tag or note you add. HeartPeek does not measure blood pressure; these are only the values you enter;
  • your settings (measurement length, vibration, theme, reminder times);
  • a few app counters (when the app was first opened, how many good readings you saved, whether we already asked for a review);
  • whether you have HeartPeek Plus, and when a one-hour pass earned by watching a video ends.

Android cloud backup and device transfer are switched off for HeartPeek, so these are not copied to your Google account. Uninstalling the app deletes them for good.

With Plus you can export your readings as a CSV file, and your blood pressure entries as a CSV file or a PDF report to show your doctor. The app writes the file only to the place you pick in Android's file picker; what happens to it after that, such as sharing it, is up to you.

3. Reminders and notifications

You can turn on a daily morning or evening reminder to check your blood pressure in Settings. Only then does the app ask for permission to show notifications (Android 13 and later), and it also re-arms the reminders after your phone restarts. Reminders are scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Turn them off in Settings at any time.

4. Advertising (free version only)

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob in three places only:

  • a banner at the bottom of the History screen;
  • an occasional full-screen ad at a natural break: after you save or discard a finished reading, or when you close a reading's details. Never in your first minutes with the app, and only every few breaks, several minutes apart;
  • an optional video you can choose to watch on the HeartPeek Plus screen, which unlocks Plus features for one hour. It never plays unless you tap it.

There are never ads on the measure screen or while a measurement is running. HeartPeek Plus removes all ads.

To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, an approximate location derived from your IP address, which ads were shown or tapped, and diagnostic information about the ad software. Ads may be personalised where you allow it. Your heart rate, readings, blood pressure entries, tags and notes are never included in an ad request. Google handles this data under its privacy policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Your choices: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any ads load, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices. Everywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's Android settings.

5. Purchases

HeartPeek Plus is a subscription sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy, and we never receive your card or billing details. The app only learns whether your subscription is active and remembers that on your phone. You can manage or cancel the subscription in the Google Play Store app.

6. Reviews

After you have saved a few good readings, the app may show Google Play's standard rating card, at most once. That card is run by Google Play; we only see a public review if you choose to post one.

7. What we do not do

  • No account, sign-up or login.
  • No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools of our own.
  • We do not record, store or upload photos or video.
  • We do not send your health readings or blood pressure entries anywhere.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, files, precise location, calendar or messages.
  • We do not claim to measure blood pressure or blood oxygen with the camera, and we do not diagnose anything. The blood pressure bands shown next to your own entries are for information only.
  • We do not sell your data.

8. Internet use

Measuring, history, trends, the blood pressure log, reminders, the PDF report and export all work offline. The internet is used only by Google AdMob (free version) and Google Play (subscriptions and the rating card), and all of that traffic is encrypted.

9. Children

HeartPeek is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Your rights and deleting your data

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete or send you. To delete a single reading or blood pressure entry, open it in History and tap Delete. To delete everything the app stores, uninstall it or clear its storage in Android Settings > Apps > HeartPeek > Storage. For data held by Google (ads, purchases), use your Google account settings. If you are in the EEA or UK you have rights of access, correction, deletion and objection, and you are welcome to contact us about them.

11. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top, and mention important changes in the release notes. Questions: [email protected].
