DocPocket
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 September 2026
DocPocket ("the app") is published by SnailPixel ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your documents are scanned, read and stored on your device and are never uploaded. We run no servers for this app and we never see your scans. The only third-party service in the app is Google AdMob, which shows ads to users without a DocPocket Pro subscription.
Your documents stay on your device
- Scans and photos. Pages you capture with the camera or import from your photo library are saved in the app's private storage on your device. They are not uploaded, backed up to any cloud service by the app, or shared with us or anyone else. Android's cloud backup and device-transfer are switched off for this app, so your scans are not copied to a new phone unless you export them yourself.
- Recognised text. When you run text recognition, DocPocket reads the text on your pages using Google ML Kit, which runs entirely on the device through Google Play services. The recognised text is stored next to the scan on your device so you can copy it, search it and export searchable PDFs. It is never transmitted.
- Camera. The camera is used only while you are scanning, through the Google document scanner that ships with Google Play services. Images from that scan are handed to the app and saved on the device.
- Document names, folders and settings. Stored on the device.
- Exports. A PDF or JPEG is created only when you ask for one, and it goes only where you send it: the app you pick in the share sheet, or the location you choose when you save a file.
- App lock. The optional lock uses your device's own fingerprint, face or PIN through Android's BiometricPrompt. The app never sees or stores your biometric data or your device PIN.
Permissions
- Camera. Requested by the Google document scanner while you scan. The app does not run the camera in the background.
- Photos. The app uses the Android photo picker, so it only ever receives the images you select. It asks for no storage permission and cannot browse your gallery.
- Internet. Used only for ads, Google Play Billing and downloading the on-device text-recognition model. Every feature of the app works offline.
Advertising (free version)
The free version shows a banner in the library and one full-screen ad after some exports, served by Google AdMob. It also offers an optional rewarded ad: text recognition is a DocPocket Pro feature, but in the free version you can choose to watch a short ad to unlock it for one document. You are never required to watch it, nothing starts it but your own tap, and skipping it changes nothing else in the app. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect the Android advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interaction data and diagnostics, and shares them with Google to serve and measure ads. See Google's privacy policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. The contents of your scans are never used for advertising and are never sent to any ad network. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings > Google > Ads. In the European Economic Area and the UK you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices. DocPocket Pro removes all ads.
Purchases
DocPocket Pro is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and holds your purchase history under the Google Play terms and privacy policy. The app stores only whether Pro is active.
Data we collect
We do not operate any servers for this app and do not collect, store or sell personal data. The app has no accounts, no sign-up and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
Children
DocPocket is a productivity tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Security
Scans, recognised text and exports live in the app's private storage, which other apps on the device cannot read. You can add a fingerprint, face or PIN lock to the app with DocPocket Pro. Communication with Google services uses encrypted connections.
Your choices
- Delete any document in the app; its pages and recognised text are removed from the device.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything it stored.
- Change your ads consent in Settings > Ad privacy choices (EEA and UK).
- Manage or cancel DocPocket Pro in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions.
